NPO wants 95% DAB+ coverage by 2017
The Netherlands Public Broadcaster (NPO) has submitted a tender for a DAB+ contract that involves a rollout plan for 95 percent coverage by 2017.
The Netherlands Public Broadcaster (NPO) has submitted a tender for a DAB+ contract that involves a rollout plan for 95 percent coverage by 2017. The NPO made the announcement at the WorldDMB Marketing Seminar in The Hague, which hosted executives from the digital radio industry, mainly from the Netherlands and Belgium. The NPO said it is committed to DAB+ and therefore submitted a tender for a maximum of 20 DAB+ radio stations and possibly a maximum of 3 DMB-T video channels. A representative from the Dutch ministry of economic affairs, agriculture and innovation noted that although there was no clear sign from Brussels on digital radio it could be interesting for Germany, the UK, Norway and the Netherlands to look at working together in order to communicate the need for a clear signal on the future of digital radio from Brussels.
